Real Parties: A Pirate Bash!

I saw this great pirate party over at The TomKat Studio and just had it share it with you! I really like how Kim's sister-in-law used two tones of blue for the color scheme instead of the typical red, white and black (not that there is anything wrong with that!).

Here are the loot bags that were used for the pinata. They are simple, yet look so chic even though it was for a 5th birthday party!

Kim's famous cupcake toppers (now "party circles"!) made an appearance of course!

The party favors consisted of cute treasure chests filled with gold coins & pirate bouncy balls!

How great is it that the birthday boy's name is Jack?! "Captain Jack" signs were placed around the house

I love the font that was used too! Arrgh (had to say that at some point, ha!)! I'm sure a great time was had by all!

Confetti Invitation

This darling invitation immediately caught my eye when I saw it a few months ago over at Creature Comforts. It would be perfect for a bubble theme bash or polka dot party. I also think it would be fun to add photofetti along with the paper circles.

To recreate the look, you can find the vellum envelopes at Paper and More. There are many Etsy sellers who offer custom rubber stamps like this one here.

Black & Yellow Candy Station

I am loving this perfectly coordinated candy station created by Amorology Weddings. It is so cheerful and chic! This would also work great for bridal shower, an anniversary party or a bee themed children's' party.

More pictures of the yellow, black and white damask wedding HERE.

In Need of a Chuckle...

We are all starting to feel better...FINALLY! I'm still dealing with the remnants of a yucky cold and not my usual self just yet. While reading one of my friend's family blogs today, I came across this picture and it made me laugh out loud. That's just what I needed! =)

I need to order these cups ASAP. Whenever my 2 year old asks what's in my wine glass, I always say, "it's mommy's juice."

You can order cups like these HERE.

{Real Parties} Baby Gender Announcement Party!

I LOVE this party idea that Sarah from Jack and Izzy recently hosted. She gathered close family and friends at her home to reveal whether or not they were going to have a boy or girl! Head on over to Jack and Izzy to read more about the fun details of the party...like how they asked guests to come wearing pink or blue if they thought they were having a boy or girl and how they made the big announcement.

Also, be sure to check out the Jack and Izzy shop on Etsy. I am smitten with her paper goodies!

Real Parties: Harrison's World

Creative mom Haley is back with another great party for her little boy who turned one! She managed (although I am not surprised) to pull off an Elmo party in style. The Sesame Street colors were everywhere, but looked great in all of the right places.
Welcome to Harrison's World!

I am very impressed...Haley MADE this sign by wrapping cardboard tubing with green duct tape and attaching the poster board sign to styro-board.

The letter boxes were a cinch to make. Haley decorated white shipping boxes with letters and placed them, along with large crayons, around the house.

The cute signs were inspired by the Sesame Street logo and credits at the end of each show.

Next to each buffet item, Haley noted on food cards whose favorite food was what...such as "Elmo Loves Pizza", "Cookie Monster Loves Cookies".

Guests took home live fish (Dorothy) as party favors!

Of course an Elmo party would not be complete without a visit from the star himself along with his pal Abby Cadabby! The duo led the guests in songs and dances and then everyone got to pose for a picture.

Other Vendor Information:

All photography by Candid Chic Photography
Harrison's Elmo jon jon was from Ebay seller, Izzy B Designs
The party hat was made by Gingham Bunny Embroidery, also from Ebay

How to Save a Cupcake

image via Flickr

I love icing!! I always go for the piece of cake or cupcake that has the most. I'm not one to turn down sweets, so whenever a friend sends me home with a leftover cupcake...or two, or three...I'm excited. But I'm always so sad when I get home and most of the icing has come off due to the plastic wrap.

I just read a great tip from Celebrations that will help with this saga. Place the cupcake(s) on a sturdy paper plate and stick a candle in the center. Then, cover with plastic wrap. The candle holds up the plastic wrap to prevent smearing. When I read that, it was a "why did I not think of that" moment! This may be old news to you, but it was a revelation for me.

Excited Much?!

This week I have been ridiculously excited!! A few of my all time favorite blogs wrote a feature about my recent Clothing Swap party! Thank you, thank you ladies for the nice words and link love.

My heart skipped about 10 beats when I clicked on Stem Parties blog and saw the post that Amy wrote. You can read it HERE.

I absolutely love Party Perfect and felt so honored to be featured on her blog once again. You can see the post about the swap party HERE and her first post about P is for Party HERE. Thank you Sara!

A big thank you to my good friend Hayley who featured lots of pictures from the Clothing Swap on her blog this week. Check it out HERE. Hayley is a stationery extraordinaire and created all of the paper goods for the party. Thank you for always creating such amazing designs!

Real Parties: A Tiny Party!

We have been going to lots of birthday parties lately and I must admit, it has been SO much fun! I get to see friends I see often and friends I have not seen in ages. This party was hosted by my long time friend, Amanda. Her family calls her little guy "Tiny." When she was brainstorming ideas for his first birthday, I told her she had to to a tiny party! And that is exactly what she did!

Instead of one big cake, she served different "tiny" cakes. Love that!

Miniature water bottles were a must to fit the theme. Amanda individually wrapped each bottle with coordinating paper matching the party colors.

Tiny food!

This picture does not do the invitation justice. It was PRECIOUS and one of the cutest invitations I have ever seen. The invitation was small of course and the banner was itsy bitsy and was HAND SEWN by a stationery shop in Ohio.
